Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación

Structure

CIBERES is made up of 34 Research Groups belonging to institutions of different nature: university hospitals, universities, Public Research Bodies (OPI in Spanish), as well as the Instituto de Salud Carlos III (ISCIII) itself and the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), and research centres of Spain’s regional authorities.

CIBERES forms an extensive team of human resources involving over 400 people, with a large part of staff researchers and members of the groups and staff belonging to CIBERES (consortium institutions ascribed to CIBERES). This large group is made up of biomedical basic and clinical researchers, technical research staff and management staff.

As a thematic area of the CIBER, CIBERES belongs to this public consortium and is thus controlled by a Governing Body and a Permanent Committee (governing and management bodies) in which the institutions in the consortium take part. The organisation structure consists of the Scientific Management headed by Dr. Ferrán Barbé that coordinates the work done in the ten Scientific Lines into which the CIBERES groups are divided, along with the Management Committee. The CIBER Technical Unit provides the administrative support required for the Institution to run.
